In China, there has been an explosion in classical music by children. Up to fifty million have taken interest in just the piano alone. Much of the popularity has been attributed to Lang Lang, a successful pianist who began his musician career at the age of 3 years old. Xu Weili is one of the teachers who teaches these children the ways of the piano, and hopefully lead them in the way of becoming a superstar. Much of the popularity of playing the piano has come from the influence of western culture. You can say China is becoming westernized.
My Opinion Paragraph:
I believe that it is good that these children are trying to adopt a way to express their interest in the musical art, and to take it after a famous pianist living within their country. Yet, to what extent is it their culture? They are adopting this popularity, and playing this music based on Western Classical Music. They are using music that is not from their region of the world, but from a different part. I think that it could possibly be damaging their culture, because when new cultures are adopted, old ones are lost, and forgotten.
