Summary:
King Albert II gave an address that supposedly was hinted towards the republican Flemish separatist party, the Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie. He called them Facists. But the leader from the rebel party stated that the monarch has to much overly political role in the country when making decisions. King Albert spoke and said words linking separatism to facism, which relates to when the Flemish nationalists collaborated with the nazis in the Second World War. Now the north is wanting to split the state into two.
My thoughts:
My thoughts related to this article are that maybe Albert went a little to far to make the links between the two words. I think that the powers that he is given should be used more efficiently to suit the needs of all parts of the State in order to create peace. He needs to show more action to being a monarch. If the two 'sides' of Belgium truly think in different directions then I think that the state should just split, so that way both sides of parties can be happy.
Political Tie-In:
This article ties into the politics of Belgium through what could possibly happen to the state itself, I mean a possible split into 2 brand new states is a political headline. They way the Monarch is exhibiting the use of his powers also is an indication of how this article is showcasing them. Also some problems within the government itself are being given through this article.
